Is Google Broke? Google’s February 2016 Search Algorithms Update

It’s been very crazy new year so far when it comes to Google search and the way Google is responding to most search queries, I am of an opinion that Google’s been broke, I can very clearly see Google’s returning erroneous search results to most queries and weird websites ranking on the entire Google’s first page and even the same URL taking half of the space on next page

As in my previous post I have shared my opinion with all my readers and was the first one in the UK to report Google’s search update in the very beginning of January, I am seeing a very crazy response to my search queries, okay I can be wrong but I am not wrong

“Discount furniture” was returning search results from website directories and hardly showing a website link on google.co.in, on Google UK, Google have been returning weird results for “SEO UK” and that too of websites that are abusing the wiki and whose website backlinks are all “no follow”

The website which have been ranking for most “seo related queries” is a brand new domain, getting all its links from duplicate press release URLs, weird wiki links and abusing several other sites on the internet with weird content published on each resource

The whole world is saying, It is a Google update, I know Google is making number of changes in their Algorithms, I know and I remained the first person on the internet that has reported this Google January 2016 update, and even the February 2016 Search update by Google

I have a very strong opinion that during the Google algorithm changes were being made, they have suffered a worth amount of technical difficulties and were hard to correct things until now, but I can be wrong too, I will like to think Google’s been broke from end December 27th of December 2015 and they are doing everything to make things work “Problems happen everywhere” I will also like to think, Google wanted to push an update by 1st January 2016

There is a lot we can talk about at the moment and make guesses, the situation is not very much clear especially on Google UK, weird activity have been seen on google.com.au and google.co.in, however google.com (Google America) seems to be all fine as well as most other Google domains

In my own opinion, Google is more localising their search which they always planned and give reward to those which have responsive websites, a trustworthy backlinks profile in place, great seo copy written for website visitors as well as great social media marketing profile and buzz there and relevance are the utmost factors of Google search in 2016

If you are seriously looking forward to rank your business on Google and want to establish long lasting search engine rankings, then you need to work on the old theory, good link building profile, local trust (local business establishment), positive reviews, good products and pricing as well as responsive websites and newsworthy content

Google would not penalise you until unless they have a strong reason to believe that you are manipulating their search results by establishing a good link building profile by using the tricks Google do not allow, be straightforward, do good work and you are safe!

Hire a good SEO Company if you are too busy doing other stuff you specialise at and leave your content creation, seo and backlinks profile and social media to the experts that can do better and with ethics and guidelines in mind

I will write again when I have more to share, hopefully soon, let’s all hope, this Google update only hurts which deserve a penalty and not those which have always done a good seo job

Content Marketing is the New Face of Online Marketing for 2016

Content has always played a part in web marketing strategies, but 2016 is set to be the year that content rules, with search engines changing the weight they put on content and quality when it comes to search engine page rankings (SEPRs).

Now online marketing agencies are scrambling to find quality content writers to handle the growing need for high quality content to feed content led marketing strategies this year.

The main reason for the large shift in the value of content as part SEO and online marketing tactics comes down the changes made by Google in the last year.

Its Penguin update, launched in April of 2015, saw many websites’ SEPRs suffer due to a lack of quality back links from pages and websites containing quality content, as well as a lack of well written and relevant content on their own website.

Google decided to make the change after link building, a tactic that came about in the late 1990s after the search engine announced its plans to use links as votes for the credibility of sites and base rankings partly on this factor, gained a bad name due to the amount of online marketing consultants misunderstanding and abusing the original concept.

Marketers would pay sites that were created simply for the purpose of content creation to post low quality and over optimised content full of links.

This led to link building becoming about the sheer quantity of links rather than the quality of the websites and their content, making search results and user experience suffer.

Google are now cracking down on what has been deemed ‘black hat SEO’ or ‘bad link building’ by assessing the quality of the content and website the link is placed on, and favouring sites that use slow and steady link building tactics in conjunction with other online marketing and SEO tactics.

So, the best way to keep a good reputation and high SEPRs with search engines in 2016?

Enlist the help of web marketing professionals and content writers, create high quality content that is written for the reader, not for the search engine, and ensure you are guest blogging and sending content to reputable sites where your content will be relevant and bring something worthwhile to the site.

Do your research before submitting content to sites, as having links and content posted on sites with a bad reputation could harm yours. And enjoy it while it lasts, as content marketing may be hot in 2016, but search engines are constantly changing so keeping up is crucial for your online marketing success.

Google’s New Image Search Could Wound Search Engine Marketing Efforts in 2016

Google revamped their Google Image Search for mobile and tablet in 2015, and the simplified experience was such a big hit that they are bringing it to their desktop Image Search.

This however is not all together good news for search engine marketing as this could make life a whole lot harder when it comes to driving web traffic to company websites.

When Google launched their new Penguin update, which showed preference to sites with multimedia content such as images and video by bringing up these results in normal searches, many digital marketers rejoiced as their search engine marketing efforts appeared to become a whole lot easier.

They got to work on implementing organic SEO tactics based around the multimedia shift, adding and optimising images and video with meta data to their websites.

Now however all that effort could be in vain, as the change to the new Google Image search format implies that the sites hosting the images may see a large reduction in visits, as the new search function allows people to browse and download the images without actually accessing the host site?

Google have counteracted these worries by saying that the change has actually added more new ways to reach the host site which will according to them increase traffic to the site.

The changes they believe will help increase traffic include making the domain name clickable and adding a new button which allows the searcher to visit the site that hosts the image.

This brings the amount of clickable targets for the host site up to four, where as with the old image search there were only two possible ways to access the host’s site.

Google also believe that by no longer loading the website with the image, they will no longer be creating “phantom” visits for websites, something that was one of the most common complaints from websites about the old Google Image search.

“That was causing problems for some webmasters, and so we thought we can do away with that. That’s gone now,” said Google webmaster trend analyst Pierre Far.

There is an option for search engine marketers who do not believe Google’s new image search will help their campaigns, they can block Google from indexing any images on their website.

There is also the option of boosting results through paid search engine marketing and pay per click advertising, as well as plenty of other SEO tactics such as the growing trend of using social media.

And of course, Google may be the world’s biggest search engine in terms of revenue, but from a search engine marketer’s point of view there are always its large scale competitors, Bing, who have yet to cause uproar in the online marketing world.

Internet Marketing Trends 2016 is set to be the year of the tablet

2015 was deemed ‘the year of the mobile’ as the huge growth in the popularity and use of smartphones rocketed and left no question as the value and importance of businesses ‘going mobile’.

And now 2016 is well and truly upon us it would seem tablets are the new smart way to browse on the go, leaving internet marketers speculating that 2016 is set to be the year of the tablet.

Over the past year sales of PCs and laptops have increasingly declined whilst tablet sales have been on the up. It is estimated that tablet sales will continue to shoot to a staggering 375 million by 2016, replacing PCs and laptops in the majority of homes across the UK.

As it stands at the moment tablets cannot do everything a computer can, but are not lagging far behind in that respect as development and release of new and increasingly durable tablets has been happening throughout 2015 and continues into 2016.

Once considered to just be a novelty gadget in the same way smartphones were, tablets are increasingly becoming an everyday computing device and necessity to some, with their convenience and desirability far outweighing their home computing technology predecessors.

Internet marketing companies are already gearing up for the coming year, as they prepare to make online marketing a whole lot more tablet friendly.

Web based apps are the new most cost effective strategy aimed at tablet and smartphone users, while traditional methods such as search engine optimisation still play a vital role in marketing plans.

And with many more people accessing the internet more frequently thanks to the convenience of mobile devices, blog and online news website traffic is on the increase, making content marketing an essential technique to add to the list for internet marketing services.

Businesses are also encouraged to ensure their own website is fully prepared for users to browse using tablets and smartphones, as many companies have still not considered making the shift to more flexible mobile-compatible web design.

Those who do not make the change soon are likely to get left behind as this year will see the biggest growth yet in tablet users and owners, and keeping up with the wants and needs of the target markets is a vital part of being successful in the fast paced digital dependant society we live in today.
